Small round French decorative lamp

A small decorative lamp made in France just after the turn of the last century. It has a 3 loop unsupported carbon filament and double-contact small bayonet cap which is the same size as those used on car tail-light bulbs, and still commonly used on European light bulbs today. There is a small round paper label giving its rating although that cannot be seen in these admittedly poor pictures (I`ll improve them one day). It has a quite simple stemless structure- an elongated glass bead supports the lead-in wires which could be iron. Although I can`t tell for sure without removing the base (which I will not do!) it is likely that short platinum link wires pass through the glass at the bottom and join onto the main support wires. Platinum wire expands and contracts at the same rate as glass so gives the best air-tight seal but it is very expensive and would cost too much if the wires were entirely platinum.

Shown here on the left, lit on a low voltage (50v).
